8th Symposium Driving Simulation

8+9 November 2022 | Benningen & remote
Cooperative event of Automotive Solution Center for Simulation e.V.,  IFM University of Applied Sciences Kempten and VDC Fellbach w.V.
accompanied by the ENVITED research cluster assembly

OBJECTIVE

The Symposium Driving Simulation - SDS brings together industrial and academic experts from the fields of virtual driving simulation, driving dynamics, ADAS sensor technology and autonomous driving. Our format offers a familiar environment for networking and the presentation of scientific approaches, application-oriented results and state-of the art technologies. The 8th edition SDS is planned as hybrid event: participants can join the conference and technology exhibition onsite and remote. The focus of the event is on technical challenges, latest research approaches and state of the art simulation processes. The organizers want to offer the idustrial and academic community a better technological access and possibilities for deeper exchange and future collaborations. We offer start-ups and public funded projects a platform for professional exchange, dissemination and the development of their business relationships.

The Institute for Driver Assistance and Connected Mobility (IFM) of the Kempten University of Applied Sciences gather contributory research specialisms together under the motto: interdisciplinary research in close collaboration with the automotive industry. Our claim is to work on the best solutions of tomorrow. Through intelligent functions and clever methods, we want to increase product performance and development efficiency - but at the same time keep the focus on people with their emotional needs and their desire live for a comprehensive driving experience. The IFM with its approx. 100 employees has direct access to the neighboring test site of Fakt Motion and has created over 300 km of digitized roads for simulation. This offers the unique possibility to create the link between the real and virtual world.

BACKGROUND

Turning the vision of autonomous driving into reality requires a fundamental digital transformation in the development process. The rapidly increasing product complexity and the interaction of the vehicle with a connected environment lead to a multidimensional test matrix of hitherto unknown dimensions. It is obvious that in order to cope with these demanding tasks, a partial shift from real testing to the hybrid / virtual world is necessary in order to develop safely, reproducibly and efficiently. Simulation methods in combination with driving simulators are a key technology. Automotive OEMs and suppliers need to make the numerous possible solutions offered by driving simulators their own, while technology providers have to develop them further for the future. All too often this potential is not fully exploited due to the increasing complexity of these systems and a heterogeneous hardware and software environment. Here, too, continuous research and further development of virtual test methods is necessary to provide engineers with reliable and credible simulation processes.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The event is aimed at decision-makers and experts from science and industry in the field of virtual driving simulation, driving dynamics, ADAS, autonomous driving and connected mobility systems.

FOCUS TOPICS

  • Virtual Design, Validation and Certification of Highly Automated Driving Functions

  • Scenario Generation for AD
